In 2022, I traveled to the Dominican Republic to serve with my church. While volunteering, I spent time with many families, including those from Haiti who are now living in the Dominican Republic. These families often face discrimination and struggle with limited opportunities — their lives are harder in ways that many Dominicans will never understand.
I remember holding over twenty babies during our clinic visits, and only one had a diaper. The others were wrapped in cloth, and when it got soiled, the mothers simply folded it over and reused it. As a mother, seeing that was heartbreaking. These families, especially the Haitian refugees, often don’t have the resources to give their children the basics we take for granted. The lack of diapers was a small, yet powerful symbol of the larger hardships they face.
Growing up in a refugee camp myself, I understood their pain, but I never had to experience this level of hardship with my own children. Even in the camp, I had access to diapers. But these mothers, many of whom had fled Haiti to escape violence and poverty, were doing their best with nothing.
On the last day, I prayed for clarity. I asked God, “Why am I here? What is my purpose in this situation?” And that’s when I heard a voice — “Why don’t you do something about it?”
And just like that, the idea came: I could help by providing reusable cloth diapers. They are washable, durable, and affordable. The same kind I used for my own kids.
So I created this website to bring hope to these mothers. If you’re able to help, please donate reusable diapers, which I will personally deliver on my next trip. If not, I ask that you pray for these families — for strength, provision, and opportunity. They deserve a future where their children can thrive.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story, and I hope you’ll join me in making a lasting impact for these families.
